At the beginning of October 2018, the superiors of twelve Benedictine monasteries met in Alexanderdorf to explore the possibilities of founding a new European women’s congregation. Intensive work was carried out in the communities during three years. Many have contributed with time and expertise. The jointly prepared necessary documents were approved by the religious congregation (CIVCSVA) in Rome .

On August 15, 2021, the European Benedictine Congregation of the Resurrection was established.
